You set the budget yourself – Meta has no minimum price. In Norway, a click on a Facebook ad has cost around NOK 7–8 on average over the past year. Work out the budget from how many enquiries you want and what an enquiry costs in your industry. An agency comes on top; with us from NOK 7,900/month.
The short answer: you decide how much you spend on Facebook and Instagram ads. Meta has no minimum price, and you can start with a few hundred kroner. But that doesn’t mean every budget pays off. Here we go through what advertising on Facebook and Instagram actually costs in Norway in 2026, how to work out a budget that gives you an answer, and what an agency charges.
In short
- The cost has two parts: the ad budget you pay to Meta, and the work of creating, running and measuring the ads.
- In Norway, a click on a Facebook ad has cost around 0.7 US dollars (roughly NOK 7–8) on average over the past year, and 1,000 impressions around 11 dollars. The figures swing a lot from month to month and between industries.
- Work the budget out backwards: how many enquiries you want, times what an enquiry costs in your industry.
- Agencies charge a fixed price, a percentage of the budget or by the hour. With us, Meta advertising costs from NOK 7,900/month, with no lock-in and no percentage of the budget.
Two costs you should keep apart
When people ask “what does Facebook advertising cost?”, two very different things often get mixed up:
- The ad budget – the money that goes straight to Meta for your ads to be shown. You control this yourself, per day or for the whole campaign.
- The work – tracking, audiences, images and video, copy, testing and reporting. You either do it yourself or pay someone to do it.
It’s worth keeping them separate when you compare offers too. An agency that “includes” the budget in a fixed monthly price makes it hard to see how much actually goes to the ads.
What do a click and 1,000 impressions cost in Norway?
Meta sells ads in an auction, so the price isn’t fixed. It depends on how many others want to reach the same people at the same time. Two figures are useful to know:
- CPM – cost per 1,000 impressions.
- CPC – cost per click.
The ad tool Superads has collected data from thousands of ad accounts. For Norway, they show a median CPC of around 0.71 dollars and a median CPM of around 11 dollars for the period July 2025 to July 2026. The cost per click varied between roughly 0.31 and 0.98 dollars from month to month. See CPC in Norway and CPM in Norway at Superads.
Use the figures as a starting point, not a price you can count on. Your cost per click can be higher or lower, depending on industry, audience, time of year and how good the ads are.
How big a budget do you need?
The simplest way is to work backwards from what you actually want:
Budget = number of enquiries you want × cost per enquiry
A worked example, with made-up numbers: if you want 20 enquiries a month and an enquiry costs NOK 200 in your industry, you need around NOK 4,000 in ad budget. If an enquiry is worth more than NOK 200 to you, it pays off. If it isn’t, the ads, the website or the offer has to improve before you raise the budget.
You don’t know what an enquiry costs until you’ve tested. That’s why the first weeks should be treated as a test. Meta also needs data to learn: according to Meta’s own guidance, an ad set leaves the learning phase once it has had around 50 results (such as enquiries or purchases) within a week. A very small budget spread across many ad sets rarely gets there.
What affects the price?
- The audience. A narrow audience in Oslo that many compete for costs more per impression than a broad audience across the whole country.
- Time of year. Around Black Friday and Christmas, many more advertisers bid, and prices rise.
- The ads. Ads people actually stop for and click on get a lower price per result than ads that get scrolled past.
- Tracking. Without the Meta pixel and the Conversions API, Meta can’t see who actually became a customer, and optimizes for clicks instead of sales.
- The goal you choose. Campaigns that optimize for engagement get likes. If you want enquiries or sales, the campaign needs that as its goal.
What does an agency charge for Facebook and Instagram advertising?
Agencies charge in three common ways:
| Model | How it works | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed monthly price | One price for the work, regardless of budget | Easy to budget for. Check what’s included. |
| Percentage of budget | The agency takes a share of what you spend on ads | The agency earns more when you spend more. |
| Hourly rate | You pay for the hours used | Harder to know the total price in advance. |
At Techspace, Facebook and Instagram advertising costs from NOK 7,900 a month. You pay the ad budget directly to Meta, we take no percentage of it, and there’s no lock-in. The ad account and the pixel are in your name. You’ll find all our starting prices on the pricing page.
Do it yourself or use an agency?
You can run Facebook ads yourself. It often makes sense to start on your own if the budget is small and you have time to learn the tool. An agency makes most sense when advertising is an important channel for you, when the tracking needs to be set up properly, or when you don’t have time to make new ads and follow the numbers every week.
A good question to ask yourself: what is one new customer worth to you? If an agency brings in more customers than it costs, it pays off. If it doesn’t, you shouldn’t pay for it.
Facebook ads or Google Ads?
The two channels do different jobs. Google Ads reaches people who are already searching for what you sell. Facebook and Instagram reach people who aren’t looking yet, but who fit your audience. Many businesses get the best results from both. Read more in our guide to Google Ads for small businesses, or see the Google Ads page.
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum budget for Facebook ads?
Meta has no fixed minimum price for a campaign, so you can start small. But too small a budget gives too few results for Meta to learn who becomes a customer, and for you to judge whether it pays off.
What does a click on Facebook cost in Norway?
According to data from Superads, the median cost per click in Norway was around 0.71 US dollars (roughly NOK 7–8) from July 2025 to July 2026. The price varies with industry, audience and time of year.
Are Instagram ads more expensive than Facebook ads?
Both run from the same Meta ad account, and the price is set in the same auction. Which platform gives the lowest price per result varies – that's why many let Meta place the ads where they work best.
What does an agency charge for Facebook advertising?
It depends on the model: fixed monthly price, a percentage of the budget or an hourly rate. At Techspace it costs from NOK 7,900/month, with no lock-in and no percentage of the ad budget.
How quickly will I see results?
The ads can bring clicks the same day. But Meta needs a few weeks of data to optimize, so expect a test period before you judge whether it pays off.
